Brittney woke up on Tuesday @ 4 AM in a panic saying, "Chris, my water broke!!!" and I respond with..."are you for real?" as she dashed off to the bathroom and what do ya know it all began to be so real that our son would be here soon. After frantically getting dressed, getting the last minute items into the hospital bag, calling the grandma's, and Brittney changing pants 3 times we were off to the hospital by about 4:25 AM or so. It was definitely one of the longest days being up since 4 and not sleeping til 11 or so. Shortly after we arrived the hooked Britt up to some moniters and 30 minutes or so later we moved to the birthing room that was much bigger and more comfortable. Britt did pretty good with the pain until about 9:30 am when she got the epideral (by which was put in by Bro Davis who was in our first ward the Academy) after that it was all good! Britt was in and out for the rest of the day as I looked at the moniter to see her contractions coming strong and every three minutes. This totally converted me to better living and birth through drugs! Britt stayed in the same position most of the day, we only moved her twice and after going to move her the third time the nurse checked her and said, "oh, there's a head right there" Britt had relaxed so much that her body did just about all the work getting Caevendown the birth canal. The nurse had her push a few times to get things a little closer and then Dr. Ryan arrived and about 10-15 min later Caeven Chase Riggs was born @ 2:52 PM on Tuesday the 12th of February 2008-so he now shares the same birthday as our friend Kamee Godwin and Abe Lincoln. Here are some pictures of our handsome baby boy Caeven Chase Riggs, his birth was definitely one of the most spectacular moments in our lives and we are so happy and blessed to have him here with us, even if he did get here 2 weeks early. Now the fun and family life begins!
